Summer in full swing...

I love summer!  The nights are longer, the weather nicer, and the activities more fun.  There was no shortage of fun things to do or moments of "what should we do tonight?" this weekend.  We filled our time with boating, horseback riding, nature walks, running through the sprinklers and having dinner with friends like it was our job.  I hope that 20 years from now when our children reflect on their childhood and this is what they remember.

Boating:  On my bucket list is to live near the ocean.  However, we do not live anywhere near the ocean so second best is boating up at Lucky Peak.  We are blessed to have a family boat that is docked up at the marina so we just hop up there and away we go.  A quick stop at subway and we have dinner and entertainment after work.  There are 3 fears all of our children have been born with... The boat, fireworks, and Santa.  Between the ages of 2 and 3 these fears vanish leaving only joy.  Clara has now passed one hurdle and loves the boat.  I will keep you posted on how fourth of July turns out.  Check out the girls secret hideout in the front of the boat.

Horseback Riding:  Over the past year, I have become great friends with one of my coworkers Jenna.  She has a young horse named Stetson and the girls have fed and pet him but have been unable to ride him because he is just learning the ropes so to speak.  Recently, she brought down her childhood horse Blue to keep Stetson company. The girls loved the opportunity to ride Blue.  Jenna is a fabulous teacher and showed Maddy how to give commands and work the reins.  I was so impressed by how quickly Maddy picked it up and how much she enjoys it.  I see a horse in our not so near future.

The rest of the weekend was spent running through the sprinklers, eating ice cream, and nature walks.  Here is to more fun weekends this summer.
