The big move...

A bridge over the Wabash River in downtown Lafayette.
Three days,1799.5 miles and four McDonalds trips later our family rolled into Lafayette Indiana. I am not going to lie this whole process has been very stressful.  Not like I imagined it to be a walk in the park or anything but it has taken a toll on all the adults in our household.  However, the kids have been completely resilient to adult stresses and love every little part of our adventure.  Some of the best times of living here have come from watching the joy that the kids have.  I keep reminding myself it is all about perspective.

A summary of the past 2 weeks... We arrived on Friday July 19th  {Doc and Barbara's birthdays woo hoo happy birthday guys!} after a 3 day road trip.  The kids did great!  Overall the trip was long but pleasant.  We stopped in Cheyenne, Wyoming.  The kids loved the bunk beds and pool.  Next was Lincoln, Nebraska for a quick visit with old friends Serena, Casey, and Ayden.  Then the home stretch to Lafayette.  We stayed in an a cool hotel, swam and ate room service.  Total vacation style then reality set in when we moved into our townhouse.

Hot tub at the four seasons with my little buddies.
You know that car insurance commercial where the girl is dating the "French model" off the internet?  Well that was the townhouse that we rented.  Bonjour!  The pictures online looked great but in person the house was smelly and in a shady part of town.  So after one week we repacked our bags and rented a uhaul and moved into a rental house about 15 minutes away.  The neighborhood is great!  The kids have friends that they play with and it is more the subdivision living that we are use to.

I started my job last Monday and really enjoy it.  I was hired to be a laboratory coordinator for the media lab but after arriving I was put on a transformation project which I love.  The people are very nice and friendly.  The facility is impeccable and even has a gym.  The culture is very different but in a good way.  It just takes some getting use to.

Now for the fun stuff... We visited the Tippecanoe fair or as the kids would say the Chicken Canoe fair.  Pretty rinky dink with no animals and a small selection of fair food but that didn't stop the kids {and then us} from having a blast.

Visited Happy Hollow Park.
Taking a poll is that name cute or sound like a pet cemetery?

We have been on a quest for a new parish.  Tonight we found Saint Boniface.  The priest lead an amazing children's adoration and afterwards we had pizza and visited with the other families.  This one is definitely a winner!

and just chilling at home.

Sorry for all the phone pics.  If you would like to see all these pics in real time follow me on Instagram- stivisoa.  I will take some real ones tomorrow as we visit the Indianapolis zoo.
