McCall Winter Carnival 2012

This year's Winter Carnival was nicely deemed a "charlie fox trot."  For those of you who do not know that is one step above a shit show but more rushed and with tantrums than say a pleasant weekend in the woods.      We got a late start and made our way into McCall around 2:30 p.m.  Because of the unseasonably warm temperatures there were not a ton of sculptures.  We walked the course and saw some cool sculptures.  My favorite was the 10 foot Buzz Light Year!

We met up with Travis and Kimberly at the Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in McCall.  As we sat in the pews it was the first time I took a deep breath all day.  The worries and stress left and it was a great Saturday mass.  After church all 7 of us piled into our 5 passenger vehicle and went to watch the fireworks.  The show was absolutely beautiful.  However, we can add fireworks to the list of things that makes Clara 'cared.  She has a tendency to not cry but yell I 'cared mama at the top of her longs.  Also on the list is; men with beards, baths, not wearing a diaper, the doctor, large costumed characters, Santa Claus, and the vacuum.  She and I went back to the car to watch from a safe distance (and with the heat on!)

The evening was topped off with dinner at the Toll Station.  Maddy and I shared hostess donuts and Matt and I enjoyed some adult conversation as the kids slept in the back seat.  All in all a great day but a reminder that our kids don't travel well and they need the extra comforts of home to make everything go smoothly.
