St. Kateri Tekawitha pray for us...

Our sweet Kateri Rose was baptized into the holy church on March 15th, 2015.  Having her baptized at the same church as our other children and having the same Godparents was definitely a huge reason why we made the trip to Boise with a newborn.  While we love our parish here it did not feel right having this sacrament without our friends and family.

I was slightly disappointed to find out that Kateri would be baptized after mass and not on a feast day (this was the case for our other children.) This was the case because it is not customary to do baptisms during lent.

Since we moved away almost 2 years ago we were not familiar with the priest who would be performing the ceremony.  I was assured by the parish staff that he was a "kick in the pants."  That was an understatement.

The advantages of having the baptism after mass was not being rushed and it was more intimate setting with friends and family.

O.K. now for the kick in the pants...

The priest spent a lot of time educating the kids about the symbols and signs of baptism.  As he anointed Kateri with the chrism oil he asked the kids "why do we use oil during baptism?"  The kids responded with some general explanation that must not have satisfied the priest because he went down a theological and historical worm hole that involved the original Olympic games, naked men, and our baby wrestling the devil.  Let's just say there were confused looks and nervous laughter from all.

Look she is all oiled up and ready to wrestle the devil....

Getting ready and being snuggled before her big day...

Big Brother, Sisters, and friends...

We are blessed with such great friends and Godparents to our children, Lorissa and Johnny Horn.  Plus their whole family feels like an extension of our very own.  You may notice they have the "opposite" family of us, with 4 boys and 1 girl.

And a couple more pictures from her big day...

Saint Kateri Tekawitha pray for us and our newborn baby.
