After Venice we were planning on heading to Cinque Terre but a flood and mud slide made that next to impossible. We decided to hit Florence early and take a little more time in Assisi, Italy. You may know a couple of saints that were born, baptisized, and ministered in this small hill town in the Umbria region... St. Francis and St. Claire. We instantly knew this place was going to be different; peacefull, relaxing, and almost medieval. There is a sprawling castle and picturesque buildings and shops everywhere.
Matt and I at the church of Saint Claire.
This is the view from the church.
There are amazing candy shops and bakeries everywhere.
There is religious art on the street, door frames, in restraunts, etc.
These are the cute dolls that I got for the girls.
The fountain in the city square.
My new favorite breakfast: A crossiant with nutela and a capaccino with one sugar!
I still can not believe all the clean water fountains on every street corner.
Hand made scarfs.
This is a simple yet beautiful altar.
The baptisimal font of St. Francis and St. Claire.
Exactly what I pictured Italy to look like.
This guy is "freaking me out" like Maddy would say. He is real.
Can you see the hedges?
In case if you have not noticed there are a lot of pictures like this.
This is on the side of a bathroom!
